There was an attack on the Charlie Hebdo headquarters on Paris France, which is a leftist news paper which basically publishes jokes, cartoons, reports and polemics. They usually mock religions such as Cathilisism, Judaism and Islam.
This predimetated attack was perpetrated the 7th of January of 2017 at 11:30am by two masked men which later on identified as members of the Al-Qaedas branch in Yemen. They used high caliber guns, which at the end killed twelve people and injured eleven others. Later on they scaped on a black Citroën C3, and faced several police cars which ended in more shootings, causing principally material damages, the third encounter was at the Richard Lenoir where the criminals were able to shoot a police oficer on his stomach and once he was down, one of the terrorists shot him death. After crashing on their way out of Richard Lenoir, they switched vehicles and later on scaped Paris.
Technology plays a key role on this attack, since thanks to the social media and many other types of media, the terorist which commited this crimes found out about this Satiric news paper. They realized that this paper was an attack to their believes and at the same time because they were members of Al-Qaeda, they thought of taking justice by their own hands. My opinion about this, is that technology is not the only reason why this happened, since we, humans are the ones who decide how to use this tools. Sadly we always find a way of how to destroy each other with new tools which come up to our lifes. My message is to meditate of how we use the technological advances and try to use them on a positive way.
